Head of Legal
We are seeking a Head of Legal to join a young and dynamic CSP in central Malta.
This is a key leadership position designed for a strategic thinker with exceptional legal expertise and a commitment to excellence. The role provides extensive exposure to a diverse range of sectors, including the rapidly evolving iGaming and crypto industries.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the legal team, fostering effective communication and collaboration across all activities.
- Provide expert legal counsel to both firm management and clients on complex regulatory, corporate, and commercial issues.
- Review and supervise team output, rigorously maintaining the highest standards of quality across all legal deliverables.
- Ensure strict adherence to the firm's quality control standards across the entire portfolio of legal services.
- Allocate client engagement tasks and responsibilities efficiently among team members to optimize resource use.
- Act as the primary legal liaison with external counsel, regulatory bodies, clients, and internal departments as necessary.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, proactively communicating progress and developments to clients and partners.
- Identify and capitalize on business development opportunities to drive the growth of the legal services function.
- Serve as a critical point of contact for clients, focused on building and sustaining strong, trusted relationships.
- Offer direct legal support to senior management for all ad hoc legal and client-related requests.
Requirements
- A warranted lawyer qualified to practice law in Malta.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience gained within a reputable law firm or corporate service provider environment.
- A strong foundational and practical background in corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
- Exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal Maltese and English.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong focus on quality outcomes.
- Proven ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- A proactive team player with a resilient and positive 'can-do' attitude.
