Linux Engineer Team Lead

Our client creates engaging online games and are looking to expand their talented Tech team by seeking a seasoned Linux Engineer Team Lead to spearhead their Linux engineering team. This pivotal role involves leading, mentoring, and developing a talented group of Linux Engineers while proactively monitoring and managing our infrastructure to ensure that our systems remain secure, stable, and within capacity limits.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of Linux Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Assign tasks, provide technical direction, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Create comprehensive documentation to facilitate training and onboarding for new team members.
System Monitoring and Infrastructure:
- Proactively monitor system performance to ensure optimal operation and capacity management.
- Oversee data center operations to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.
- Maintain a high level of technical proficiency to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
System Administration and Maintenance:
- Provision and configure Linux servers using infrastructure management tools.
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of all systems.
- Quickly debug and resolve intricate system-related challenges.
Security and Compliance:
- Identify and address emerging threats by implementing and managing necessary security controls.
- Assist with internal security audits to ensure adherence to applicable technical regulations.
- Manage firewalls and network security measures to maintain robust protection.
Support and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and improve monitoring processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Linux Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer, with a strong track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, including advanced networking and security configurations.
- Familiarity with DNS administration and management.
- Experience deploying and managing Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions, such as Cloudflare WAF.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in scripting languages, such as BASH.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems, preferably MySQL.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP protocols, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools and techniques; AWS experience is a plus.
